About

As both an educator and a designer, I see design thinking as more than a process—it’s a mindset that shapes how I approach problems, people, and possibilities. At its core, design thinking helps build a deep understanding of a problem: who is affected, why it matters, and what solutions already exist. I enjoy taking the time to learn, observe, and empathize before moving into developing a solution.

Design thinking creates space for creativity grounded in purpose. It allows for the combination of knowledge, experience, and curiosity to imagine solutions that are thoughtful, usable, and meaningful. Collaboration and communication are essential throughout this process since the strongest ideas emerge when diverse perspectives are invited, challenged, and refined together.

I’m especially drawn to the way design thinking reframes failure—not as a setback, but as an opportunity to learn. Iteration, testing, and reflection are where growth happens. Each misstep provides insight that strengthens the next version of a design.

Ultimately, I believe effective design relies on empathy, critical thinking, and creativity working in balance. Whether I’m designing learning experiences or user-centered products, my goal is always the same: to create solutions that respond to real needs and empower the people they’re built for.

Personal

I grew up in central Kansas and have lived in numerous states as an adult.  Moving around has helped me to develop a love of travel and an interest in local history and culture.    I am also a passionate Kansas City Chiefs fan and rarely miss a game. In my free time, I work with the STEAM program at my local makerspace,  make things, and hang out with my family.  My husband, David, and I have two children, Alex and Annika.

I am currently in the process of completing the Google UX Design Certification

Course certificate for Foundations of User Experience from Google UX Design certification program
Course certificate for Start the UX Design Process: Empathize, Define, and Ideate from Google UX Design certification program
Course certificate for Build Wirefram and Low Fidelity Prototypes from Google UX Design certification program
